Principal's Conference

I had a very enjoyable week in Queenstown attending the New Zealand Principal's Conference.
The keynote speakers were Tom Mulholland, Andrew May and Allison Mooney. Each of the speakers had key messages on managing ourselves and were very entertaining. The Otago Principal's Association did an outstanding job on all aspects of the conference and the venue Queenstown is a beautiful place

Yesterday we attended our cluster meeting for our new contract on assessment.
I went with Pembroke (DP) and Viv (AP)
The day centered around our current practices and in the afternoon we listened to a speech from NZCER

Today I went to a course on National Standards which is coming into schools this year. I took Viv, Rachell and Jan with me. The day was interesting. Our team came away with the feeling that we are on the right track, which is comforting.

Today I went to a course on Autism put on by Group Special Education. I learn about all the triggers for children on the Autism spectrum. An excellent course, quite enlightening.

My First Post

2010 has started very well for Kapiti Primary School. We currently have 289 pupils in 13 classes. The staff have spent the month of February testing and getting to know the pupils in their care. We are in for a good year.
